Round Two, We have Lift Off!

For the last few months I've been working with a new startup called Round Two. We finally launched late this evening. Cnet is carrying an article about the new venture:

Start-up wants to improve on Firefox Start-up wants to improve on Firefox: "Former Mozilla Foundation member gives details about start-up that promises a new and improved Firefox browser." (Via CNET News.com.)

A New Beginning for Galileo Academy

I've been working with Galileo High School and Pat Delaney for about 2 years. In that time Pat has been able to foster an active community of about 40 blogs. A robust community like that needs a look and feel that they can be excited about. So for the last week I've been working on transitioning them to a new design. Besides being a much nicer looking design it was way past time to excise the table based template they had been using in favor of a new CSS based design.

Galileo New Design is very similar to recent templates I did for KCSOS, and The Bakersfield City School District. You might also recognize this look, because I recently created a theme of this surprisingly flexible design in HTML, Manila, and PhotoShop formats.

New Design for an Old Mess

This week I got the opportunity to revisit the Kern County Superintendent of Schools home-page.
As a part of a general effort to unify all KCSOS web pages (1,2,3,4) it was time to install the new look onto the home-page. Its been a goal of mine to replace the home-page template almost since I installed its predecessor two years ago. That design was completely convoluted because I had to keep Netscape 4.x users in mind. A nightmare I hope to never repeat. The new layout is outwardly the same, but much cleaner in terms of design, and source code.

Example of what's possible with the "Brushed Adamant" theme

theme design by Bryan BellPat Delaney, put together this site for a conference he is putting on soon. Since I provided the Photoshop document this theme was based on, it was easy to change a few colors, and add in the Berkeley seal. (at least it is for people with Photoshop handy)

Another example of what's possible is a site I did recently for the Bakersfield City School District

Brushed Adamant Manila Theme by Bryan BellManila Version Now available for download. (images hosted on UserLand's server)

This theme has already been installed on Weblogger.

'Brushed Adament' is a modern template, which features accommodations for a second top-navigation, modules, and an open area where you can insert your own logo by simply modifying the background image.
